Lulu opens first ever e-commerce fulfillment centre in Oman

Major retailer Lulu Hypermarket has opened first ever dedicated fulfilment centre in the Sultanate of Oman to strengthen its online presence. The new facility which will serve as the exclusive logistics fulfilment hub for the Group’s ever-growing e-commerce activity in the country was inaugurated by Asila bint Salim Al Samsami, Under Secretary at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry & Investment Promotion in the presence of AV Ananth, Director Lulu Oman, India & Far East, Shabeer, KA, Regional Director, Lulu Oman and other officials.

The online portal for multi-category shopping in Oman, is expected to deliver world-class shopping experience to customers’, right in the comfort of their homes. This Omni channel approach to shopping will offer multiple retail options to the customers’ to choose from and optimize Lulu’s distribution network in Oman. From everyday grocery, fresh food and dairy products to trending electronics, home furnishings, as well as toys and household products, customers can get everything they need delivered right at their doorstep.

The expansive fleet of specially designed vehicles will be instrumental in reaching these products to your doorstep in a safe and hygienic environment. The vehicles are fitted with three temperature-controlled compartments for frozen, chilled and ambient requirements.

“The COVID-19 pandemic is disrupting our everyday life, impacting it in ways we couldn’t have imagined twelve months ago. But in the midst of this disruption we are inspired by the efforts of industries across Oman as they innovate to help us meet the challenges, we all now face, to help us deal with this ‘new normal’, said Asila bint Salim Al Samsami on the occasion.

“One fine example of this innovation is Lulu’s new E-commerce and logistics centre, a first of its kind in Oman. An expansion of the popular superstore’s online presence, it is an important showcase for our great local products and offers us all an easier, faster and more comfortable way to shop. We are delighted to see such developments,” she added.

The new logistics centre is spread over an area of 125,000 square feet and has a modern infrastructure for more convenient handling of goods. The facility will act as an exclusive fulfilment centre for the entire spectrum of online transactions and will cater to the growing needs of the tech savvy population of Oman.

A point to note is that the new E-Commerce and Logistics Centre does not entertain walk-in customers. Credit and debit cards can be used for transactions made through the online channels.
